Retail Merchandiser Wins Two Coveted Eddie Awards
December 2, 2009. Beverly, Mass.—The editorial department recently received five Eddie awards from Folio Magazine, including a gold and a bronze for Retail Merchandiser content. Eddies are given out by Manhattan-based Folio in recognition of excellence in editorial.
“Green Spree,” the cover story of Retail Merchandiser’s September/October 2008 issue, by Michael Sharkey, former editor-in-chief, won the gold award in the retail category. The article looked at the sustainability efforts of seven leading-edge retailers.
In addition, the September/October issue of the magazine won a bronze award for best full issue in the retail category.
Several other articles won Eddies. A silver Eddie was awarded for “Come On In,” a feature story in the Spring 2009 issue of Welcome Magazine that discussed how hospitality companies can design successful loyalty programs around customer desires. Written by Amanda Gaines, currently editor-in-chief of Retail Merchandiser, it won for best single article in the food service/hotel category.
The cover story of Fall 2008 issue of Energy Today won in the energy business-to-business category. The story, “State of the Art,” written by Jill Rose, describes Boulder, Colorado’s smart grid project. Rose is editor-in-chief of Energy Today, American Executive, Inside Healthcare, and Northeast Executive.
The cover story of the August 2008 issue of American Executive was an article on social media entitled “Social Status,” by Jill Rose. It won a silver Eddie for best single article in the design/advertising/marketing category for B2B magazines.
